David Matson- 10th generation Canadian. Graduated B.S.c honours emphasis in applied physical science from The Pennsylvania State University 2000.While attending University he worked as a research associate in the department of Plant Pathology conducting dual experiments in Agriculture engineering and pathological disease in potatoes and grapes.
While completing his thesis he became very interested in the area of viticulture & enology. He then volunteered at Mount Nittany Vineyard & Winery under the direction of Joe Caroll. After volunteering at Mount Nittany for two years, and completing his undergrad, David decided he would like to start a vineyard on his family’s Caledon Ontario dairy farm. He set-up experimental grape vineyard plots of 1.3 acres in June 2001 and concluded his experiment in 2003 when he expanded the vineyard to a total of seven acres. David continues to expand his grape growing/winemaking experience by attending lectures worldwide, and spending time with winegrowers all over North America, and Europe.David is open to communication with anyone that enjoys growing grapes, and making wine. Graduated 2000 with honours degree in Animal Biosciences. Was dedicated marine mammal trainer. Moved to Ontario with David after graduation, and is a proud American/landed Canadian living in the beautiful Albion Hills Matson settlement area. Lisa is the organizer of the winery outlet, events, and anything marketing related for the winery. She follows local arts/music events, and co-ordinated the winery boutique.
